Now Playing: Unofficial Response 1
Okay, I am preparing to leave for a trip to visit my husband before he deploys to Iraq and I have become completely overwhelmed with regular work and class work.  I do not feel that I have enough time to fully dedicate myself to the website design, at least to the point that I would be satisfied with.  Designing web sites is such a time consuming process, I can easily see how skilled people can make a decent living doing this.

Now I have reached the point where I am trying to find a Charity (one that will actually respond) with a website that needs work.  It is difficult for me to decide on anything I am going to do because I feel that it all depends upon the type of charity and their specific goals.  I have noticed alt-text before and I never realized how important it is or even what it was.  I feel that any site I would be a part of I would want to be accessible to everyone.  I feel this is very important and something I will definately keep in mind for this next project.

I have learned very much in this class so far.  I never paid very much attention to how much work, thought, and time has to go into a successful website.  I have and am continuing to gain beneficial new skills that will help me in the future both career wise and personally.  I am gaining new interests that will lead me to exploring new ways to develop websites and how to gain users’ interests.  I know I still have much to learn, and with rapid growing technology there will always be new and more advanced concepts to adapt to.

I really wish that I would have gotten more peer reviews.  I feel that maybe my group is not too fond of me in some way, or my homepage scared them off.  Either way I did receive some constructive assistance from the one peer review I did receive.  I am still working on my site map.  I would have changed my graphics, but I am very picky on how I like things to look, and time just would not permit this.  Looking at some of the other sites definitely let me see ways in which I would like to have made my site better.  I definitely can tell that experience definitely makes a difference.

I feel my audience is not only my classmates and professor, but also any beginners looking to learn about creating websites.  It is also for anyone who wants to learn without all of the really technical jargon.  I think this purpose is keeping my website simple, because I want to explain some general ideas about website design in a simple way.  Translating the technical language that I had never heard before into words I could understand was a time consuming battle with a lot of trail and error.  I think I should more directly express my purpose on the homepage.

Layout seems to be going well.  Experience in Journalism and yearbook creation has definitely helped quite a bit.  The site does seem a bit generic and simple, but I like sites that are easy to navigate and ones that are not overwhelming.  I would imagine the layout agrees with what is expected, especially for someone with no experience.  I really need to begin focusing on content because I am far behind on this.

I think that learning how to build websites is very important in our world today.  Almost everything can be and is being done over the internet.  I am excited because I will be learning useful skills that I can take with me anywhere.  The textbooks do help with the planning, but I am afraid the technical portions of the project may become issues.

I have not done very much with website design.  I have tried creating my own websites, but I did not use any organization and quickly lost interest.  My only strength I feel is my ability to write and my quick ability to learn how different processes on computers.  I am also very creative.  I am sure the more I learn about creating websites that are interesting and appealing, the more fun it will become.  I also feel that it is a great asset to have in today's career world.
